The case

Monedero ties actual fuel consumption, recorded by the volumetric-control system, to a points program the end customer uses from a mobile app. Rafael built the entire backend in PHP — including database management and connectivity with the rest of the systems — and defined the architecture decisions and UI design for the app; the mobile app itself was coded by a separate Brentec development team.

It isn't an isolated app: it's a node connected to Bonobo, to the Gibón fleet, to Brentec's online billing platform, and to external applications. The web interface, inherited in ASP, is being migrated to PHP with Yii3 on top of that same backend.

The design challenge sat at the boundary between systems that can never drift apart: if volumetric control logs a sale the wallet doesn't reflect, the customer loses trust in the points program; if the wallet credits something volumetric control doesn't back, the mismatch becomes a tax problem.
